Your Family History

The world places high value you on your family history.  The world says knowing, recording, and preserving your family history directly impacts you and your future. Family history helps to develop a strong sense of our identity.  We all desire to belong and being connected.

I was told people without knowledge of your history is like a tree without roots!  God created the family and family is important to Him.  We can see this in the Word of God.  God is a generational God, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  We have much to learn from those that have walked before us.

Yes, I agree, family history is important, and I value that. God is also interested in our family history and He has given us many examples in His Word of our brothers and sisters in the Lord. As we study the testimonies in God’s Word it reveals to us His concern and great love for each of us personally. Our worth and value is great in His sight.  We are loved and known by our Father in heaven.

Above all else, we must remember “we are a child of God. What does it mean to be a child of God?  What about our family history as a new creation in Christ Jesus?

Meditate this Scripture until it gets deep in your heart.  You are a child of God! No longer a slave to fear.  I don’t care what your birth family on earth is or what they have done, if you have accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are a child of God.  Many people I have spoken to do not know their birth family or grew up in a very abusive situation with physical abuse and addictions.  Your enemy hates families and continually tries to bring discord and disagreement which opens the door of deception in families today.

I love John 1:11-12 “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.  But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Remember, the act of love was your parents’ decision; the act of life was God’s decision.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) says, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

Now, you must learn how to be content walking the runway of life in this world full of pain and disappoint, as a child of God.  He has made the path for us to walk on and learn His ways. Psalms 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.”  God understands your past and He has a plan for your future.  His Word in your heart will lead your footsteps and you will walk into His plan for your life at the right time!

Your family history as a child of God is given to us in the Scriptures.  Romans 15:4 (TPT) tells us, “Whatever was written beforehand is meant to instruct us in how to live. The Scriptures impart to us encouragement and inspiration so that we can live in hope and endure all things.”

We have much to learn about our family history in our new creation life.  We have the testimonies of women and men of God, some walked with Him and some didn’t, we can learn from both.   As a new creation in Christ Jesus, you are part of the family of God.  We need to value our family history and learn from the testimonies in the Bible of how we face our new life in a sin cursed world.

I’m not going to tell you it will always be easy.  God told us to “fight the good fight of faith! I have good news for you.  It is a “fixed fight!”  We win, but we must learn to put on the armor of God to win.

Study the men and women in the Word of God, you need to know your family history from God’s Word.  Their testimony imparts hope and encouragement as we learn how they overcame the challenges they face in this world. Let’s learn together to be the men and women God created us to be
